On Wednesday, October 21 at 6:30 pm, Gore Place will offer a special Halloween Season screening of the PBS documentary Murder at Harvard, about the 1849 trial of Harvard professor John White Webster, who was accused of murdering Dr. George Parkman, a member of one of Boston's most prominent families. Webster's trial drew thousands of spectators and filled newspaper columns. Join us for a spine-tingling evening of history and mystery as we revisit this fascinating and notorious case.
Eric Stange, director, co-producer, and co-writer, is a Boston-based documentary filmmaker specializing in cultural and social history. Melissa Banta, co-producer and co-writer, is an author and long-time curator at Harvard University and Mount Auburn Cemetery.

What can a short film help us discover about ourselves and each other?While we don't typically host many virtual events outside of the height of the pandemic, we're making a small exception to participate in Project UnLonely Films, an initiative of the Foundation for Art &amp; Healing that uses storytelling to raise awareness about loneliness and foster connection.Every once in a while, we'll host a virtual gathering featuring one or two short films from the project. From dramas to comedies, live action to animation, these award-winning short films explore different aspects of the human experience, reminding us that we're not alone in what we feel and experience.We'll watch two short films together over Zoom and then have an opportunity to discuss our reactions, reflections, and anything that resonated with us. This edition of our popular series is for anyone who identifies under the Bi+ umbrella, including bisexual, pansexual, fluid, queer-identified, unlabeled, questioning, and anyone who experiences attraction to more than one gender (M-spec identities) and is for anyone looking to connect in community with others who get it.
All LGBTQIA+ folks are welcome as long as they support Bi+ inclusion and understand that this space is Bi+-centered.This event is intended as a bi-centered, queer-welcoming space. 
Because bi-erasure and biphobia are common issues in broader queer spaces, we maintain a clear zero-tolerance policy for any bi-erasing or biphobic comments to ensure this remains a safe, supportive environment for everyone. This is in line with our group’s general respect and inclusion guidelines. 
Whether you're out and proud, quietly exploring, or still figuring things out, you’re welcome here.
We'll gather for casual conversation, friendship, and connection in a cozy, community-oriented environment.

Celebrate 
Halloween with a spooktacular day on the trails! The <a href="https://walthamlandtrust.org/" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener">Waltham Land Trust</a>
invites you to celebrate Halloween in the best way possible — moving 
through nature, in costume (if it’s safe to run in), and helping protect
 Waltham’s beautiful open spaces by participating in our annual <a href="https://secure.walthamlandtrust.org/nx/portal/event-detail?event=3826" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener">Western Greenway 5K Trail Run/Walk</a>.The course goes through a variety of habitats in Beaver Brook North Reservation, which will most likely have gorgeous foliage to enjoy along the way! Participants will also travel by historic sites like the MetFern Cemetery. Walkers and families are strongly encouraged to take part in the fun. Each year, more and more non-runners get involved!

Before the main race kicks off, 
kids ages 10 and under can join our Monster Dash at 11:30 am —
 a fun sprint where every child gets a small treat for 
participating. Free for children who attend with an adult running the 
5K, $5 suggested donation otherwise. Perfect for little ghosts and 
goblins who want in on the action.The 5K starts at noon. We'll have tons of prizes for top finishers in various age groups, plus extras to give to lucky bib numbers the week after the race, so everyone who registers has a chance to win!
