Danger on Trapeo and Pinevale Roads at Graverson Park
Yet another near fatal accident on the corner of Trapelo and Pinvale Roads at Graverson Park!
There have been many accidents at this intersection. A few years ago, an elderly woman making a left turn on to Pinevale was struck by a Waltham Police Cruiser, responding to an emergency. I have been told that this woman died from her injuries.
Last August, another bicyclist was struck and nearly killed as a motorist tried to negotiate a left hand turn across Trapelo and yesterday the very same thing happened again.
The combination of excessive speed and the difficulty of crossing Trapelo, makes this intersection deadly! I have asked the city several times to put a regular traffic light at the intersection. The traffic department sent someone down to survey the intersection and I was told that there wasn't enough traffic at the intersection to warrant a traffic signal. This study was done in an off season time when Graverson Park was barely being used.

The traffic department placated me with a Pedestrian Strobe Light. I cannot tell you how many times I have witnessed myself pedestrians trying to cross this street to go to and from the park and drivers ignore the lights. Since when did the State of Massachusetts change the laws? I know I got my license a long time ago but we were taught that a flashing yellow light means to slow down and proceed with caution???
Something needs to be done!
