WALTHAM, MA — There may be snowflakes in Monday's forecast but it's April, and April in Waltham means Pitzi Farm's Ice Cream Stand featuring 44 flavors of Hard Ice Cream, Frozen Yogurt, Sherbet, No Sugar Added Ice Cream, Sorbet and Soft Serve is now open.
The market, of course, stays open year round, as does the deli, but ice cream is only available April through the end of September. Who says the news these days is always bad?
Pizzi Farms opened shop in 1933 by Domenic and Angela Pizzi. Then in 1965, the next generation opened the Pizzi Farm Stand. It was the place to go to get pumpkins in the fall. In 1990 the next the business was handed over again as Rick Pizzi and his sister Cheryl opened Pizzi Farm Market & Deli and Pizzi Farm Ice Cream.
