- The contractor is pulling stumps out on the south west corner of the project on Monday. They continue to mobilize equipment and materials. The 48-inch diversion pipe arrived on site Monday morning.
- Straw waddles are being installed at the bottom of the slope to protect the Beaver Brook from erosion. The water level is at 43.1 on Monday.
- This week the contractor plans to complete mobilization and preparation for installing the diversion pipe. They are also planning to abandon the existing sewer manhole which is a source of clean water (infiltration) getting into the sewer system, located within the work zone of the culvert. This work is called for as part of the project.
Are you wondering what the heck a culvert is? According to Wikipedia, “A culvert is a structure that allows water to flow under a road, railroad, trail, or similar obstruction. Typically embedded so as to be surrounded by soil, a culvert may be made from a pipe, reinforced concrete or other material. A structure that carries water above land is known as an aqueduct.”
