Waltham man indicted on charges in connection with fatal altercation (walthamtimes.org) — A 31-year-old Waltham man has been indicted on manslaughter charges stemming from a May 27 altercation at Woodside's Gas Station in Waltham that preceded another Waltham man's death. He's being held on $10,000 bail, must remain in Massachusetts, and is barred from contacting the victim's family or witnesses ahead of a November court date.

Large brush fire subdued by responders from Waltham and beyond (walthamtimes.org) — A large overnight brush fire near River and Farwell streets on the Waltham–Watertown line drew firefighters and police from Waltham and neighboring cities early Sunday. Crews battled 10–15 foot flames in wooded areas off River Street, and while bystanders blamed illegal fireworks, officials have not yet confirmed a cause. No injuries were reported.

For Waltham residents, the case highlights how other towns see investigative value in the technology that's now paused locally, raising questions about balancing privacy and public safety.
