Lenny Bruce Archives Open at Brandeis University
The comedy icon is also the subject of a two-day conference at the school.
WALTHAM, MA – Brandeis University just got a whole lot funnier.
The school celebrated the opening of a collection of Lenny Bruce archival material at a two-day exhibit dedicated to the comedy legend.
The exhibit, "Comedy and the Constitution," was funded by a grant from the Hugh M. Hefner Foundation and consists of materials donated by Bruce's daughter, Kitty, who was on hand to usher in its opening Thursday.

Bruce, a cultural satirist, stand-up comedian and screenwriter, was known for pushing the boundaries on politics, religion, sex and vulgarity at a time when such subjects were largely taboo.
His controversial takes resulted in a 1964 obscenity conviction in New York, for which he was posthumously pardoned in 2003 by then-Gov. George Pataki.
