2. Women's soccer kicks off 2026 campaign on Friday in New York (bentleyfalcons.com) — Bentley women's soccer, based right here in Waltham, opens its 2026 season Friday on Long Island before returning home for a Sept. 13 opener and a full fall slate. A new head coach takes over a consistently playoff‑bound program, with several All‑Conference standouts back after strong performances in games played on the Waltham campus.

3. 30 Local Firefighters Graduate from Firefighting Academy; Three from Revere graduate academy (advocatenews.net) — Waltham residents can celebrate firefighter John Shanley, who earned the top Bangs Outstanding Student Award while graduating from the Massachusetts Firefighting Academy's 50-day recruit program. He and fellow graduates from across the state completed intensive training in fire attack, rescue, hazardous materials response, and public safety education before returning to serve their home departments.

4. Whitney Museum Chief Curator Kim Conaty Named Director of Dartmouth Hood Museum (time.news) — Waltham art followers may recognize Kim Conaty, who once curated at Brandeis University's Rose Art Museum, as she steps into a major new role directing Dartmouth's Hood Museum of Art.
