Man Arrested at Waltham Pool for Assaulting Child

A man was arrested on Saturday for an assault that allegedly occurred at a pool in Waltham.

A Watertown man is facing charges after police say he assault a young girl at a public swimming pool in Waltham.

Troopers from Massachusetts State Police were called to Connors Memorial Swimming Pool around 4:22 p.m. on Saturday for reports of an assault.

The mother of an 11-year-old girl met with Trooper James Wladkowski and said that her daughter had been assaulted while swimming.

Victor Lopez, 37, of Watertown, was arrested after an investigation and charged with assault and battery on a child under 14.

The pool is managed by the Department of Conservation and Recreation. Lopez is not an employee, and was a guest at the pool.

Lopez was booked and had bail set at $300, and surrender of a passport. His arraignment is Monday in Waltham District Court.
