Middlesex Sheriff Peter Koutoujian Wins Re-Election

Koutoujian defeated Barry Kelleher in the state primaries Thursday.

Middlesex Sheriff Peter Koutoujian was re-elected Thursday after defeating Barry Kelleher for the Democratic nomination in the State Primary.

Koutoujian will run unopposed in the general election in November. He has served as sheriff since 2011, when he was appointed by former governor Deval Patrick.

Prior to his tenure as sheriff, he was the 10th Middlesex District state representative, serving as chairman of the Committee on Health Care, Joint Committee on Public Health and Joint Committee on Financial Service during his time in the House of Representatives.
