New Waltham High School Principal Finalists To Be Announced Soon

A new high school principal is slated to start at the end of the school year. According to Wicked Local, finalists have been selected.

WALTHAM, MA — The search committee just recommended three finalists for the role of Waltham High School’s new principal, according to Wicked Local.

A 22-member screening committee tasked with selecting finalists recently narrowed the search to three and made their recommendation to Superintendent Drew Echelson, Wicked Local reported first.

Patch reached out to Echelson, but he was not immediately available for comment.

The new principal is slated to start July 1, and will fill a seat most recently held by deputy Superintendent Paul Maiorano who stepped in as interim principal after 35 year veteran of the education world Waltham High School Principal Gregory DeMeo retired.

Waltham is also in the process of looking for a new Superintendent after Echelson announced he was stepping down to take a position as director of the doctorate of education leadership program at Harvard Graduate School of Education, at the end of the school year. In his new role, he'll be training aspiring system-level leaders to take on leadership roles —from superintendents to CEOs to leaders in the nonprofit sector.
