Police Recover Illegal Weapon After Waltham Traffic Stop

Two people face numerous charges after the stop, including two gun charges and assaulting a police officer.

WALTHAM, MA — A recent car stop in Waltham led to the recovery of an illegal firearm and charges for two people, police said.

Waltham officers and detectives conducted the stop on Crescent Street near Woerd Avenue on Jan. 2.

Police said they recovered an "illegally possessed firearm," a semi-automatic 9-millimeter handgun that was loaded with a "high-capacity 17-round magazine with a chambered round," police said.

A 21-year-old Waltham resident and a 21-year-old Marlboro resident were charged with carrying a loaded firearm without a license, carrying a large capacity firearm without a license, resisting arrest, assault and battery on a police officer and more.

The matter is still under investigation.
