The puppy was in rough shape but is now expected to make a full recovery.

Police found something unexpected last week while patting down an alleged drug dealer during an arrest in Lawrence – a 3-week-old puppy in one of his pockets.
The puppy, an American pit bull terrier, was initially taken to Lawrence Animal Control and then PittieLove Rescue, where she was named “Pocket.” However, after she repeatedly vomited and had diarrhea, potentially life-threatening conditions for a puppy separated from her mother, she was taken to BluePearl Veterinary Partners in Waltham on Wednesday, where she is in the intensive care unit.

Veterinarians now expect Pocket to make a full recovery and be discharged back to PittieLove Rescue on Friday.
Once Pocket is old enough, micro-chipped, spayed and medically fit, she will be ready for adoption. You can view adoptable dogs on PittieLove Rescue’s website here.
