STANLEY RELEASES VISION FOR WALTHAM SCHOOLS

With start of academic year, Stanley outlines plan to take Waltham School from good to great

With the start of the 2015-16 academic year, candidate for mayor, Tom Stanley, today releases his policy vision for the Waltham Public Schools.

Stanley outlined his vision stating, “as the parent of a current Waltham Public School student, I know there is a lot going right in our schools, but I also know that we can do better. As Mayor, my immediate priority would be to permanently address three issues facing our schools: the high rate of turnover for teachers and administrators, the long-anticipated overcrowding at our elementary schools, and the modernization of our high school facilities to ensure its accreditation.

Waltham has the good fortune of having dedicated teachers and supportive families, but the city’s leadership on education is insufficient. To support educational excellence from the mayor’s office, I will collaborate with the school committee, superintendent, administrators, teachers, and legislators, as I have as a city councilor and state representative. Our parents and administrators will be able to rely on long-range financial plan that is transparent, understandable and consistent. Waltham students deserve nothing but the best, and I will deliver the focus, leadership and vision from the mayor’s office to accomplish all of these objectives and more.”
