Storm Damage, A Break in, Suspicious People: Waltham Police Logs

Waltham Police had to respond to at least 20 calls about obstructions in the road on Friday, March 2.

WALTHAM, MA — As you might imagine Friday Waltham Police got a number of calls that were storm related, including a report of a building collapse. By Saturday though, it was mostly back to the normal weekend stuff: checking out reports of suspicious people and break ins.

Friday, March 2

Friday storm damage: Police responded to at least four reports of a signal being out around the city, including at the intersection of Lexington Street and Trapelo Road another at Beaver Street and Waverly Oaks Road. Six calls came in about wires being down six separate calls came in about a utility hazard and two more calls came in about public hazards. Then get ready for it: There were at least 20 calls related to road obstruction, from something on Bear Hill Road to Prospect Street to Bright Street to Trapelo Road and beyond.

Building Collapse: Police responded to a report of a building collapse on Prospect Road around 6:45 p.m.

Suspicious: Several people reported suspiciousness around the city including a suspicious incident on Lexington Street at 8:24 a.m.; a suspicious incident on Moody Street at 1:02 a.m., a loud noise on Flood Street at 2:15 a.m. ; a suspicious incident on Browns Avenue at 4:42 p.m. ; a suspicious person on Brown Street at 1:37 p.m. Something fishy was also reported on Totten Pond Road at 11:42 a.m., and on Felton Street at 5:57 p.m.

Animals: Someone reported a dog near the corner of Brookway Road and LExington Street just before midnight.

Whoops: Someone reported being locked out (presumably of their car?) at the Speedway on Prospect Street at 7:51 p.m. Earlier in the day someone had reported they were locked out on Myrtle Street.

Assault: At 6:14 p.m. someone called police to report an assault that happened at the Waltham Public Library.

Hit and Run: Police responded to a hit and run near the corner of Bacon and Dale streets at 5:43 p.m., they also responded to a similar call near Market Basket on Market Place Drive.

Fight? Police responded to a report of an argument in or near the Ocean State Job Lot on River Street at 9:03 a.m.

Arrest, Warrant: Police arrested Nicholas Zayas, 27, of Marlborough Road on a warrant for distrubing the police and violating a harrasment protection order.

Saturday, March 3

Break in: A Crescent Street resident called to report a break in at 5:12 p.m.

Stolen: Police responded ot a report of a larceny on High Street at 10:37 a.m.

Drugs Arrest: Police arrested Brian Melnick, 40, of Hartwell Street and charged him at 6:31 p.m. on a warrant for possessing Class B drugs.

Warrant Arrest: Police Arrested Eddies Perez, 42, of Bowdoin Street on a Warrant for several counts of violating an abuse prevention order, threatening to commit a crime, and assault.

Sunday, March 4

Suspicious: Someone called at 2:14 p.m. to report a suspicious person at the Common Street parking garage on Lexington Street.

Car on fire: Police and fire responded to a report of a car on fire on Route 128 at 1:18 p.m.
