WALTHAM, MA — Waltham is continuing to distribute an allotment of over 8,200 at-home coronavirus tests Tuesday, which the state is providing to residents in cities and towns across the state with high numbers of low-income residents.

Each kit comes with two iHealth Labs tests, so about 16,400 of Waltham's 65,000 residents will have access to one. The tests take about 15 minutes to complete, and health officials say the tests will help residents stay safe during holiday gatherings as the delta and omicron variants continue to push case numbers up.

Waltham residents can pick up the free at-home test kits at Government Center, located at 119 School Street, from 5 to 6 p.m. There is a limit of two boxes, or four tests, per family to make sure every resident that needs a test receives a test. Supplies are extremely limited and pick-up will close when the city runs out of tests.

Residents who previously filled out the request form and have not yet received tests are asked to come into the in-person pick-up event Tuesday. The city is no longer delivering test kits at this time.

Gov. Charlie Baker announced the rapid testing initiative last week. About 2.1 million iHealth kits are going out to 102 communities across the state.
