Trial Continues for Man Accused of Murdering Former Bentley Student
Edwin Alemany is facing multiple charges, including first degree murder, for allegedly kidnapping and murdering Amy Lord.

Prosecutors continued their testimony on Tuesday in the trail of Edwin Alemany, who faces a multitude of charges, including allegedly kidnapping and murdering former Bentley student Amy Lord on July 23, 2013.
Alemany’s charges include first-degree murder, kidnapping, armed carjacking, two counts of armed robbery, two counts of armed robbery while masked, armed assault with intent to rape, stealing by confining, arson of a motor vehicle and assault and battery.
He is accused of kidnapping Lord as she left her South Boston apartment, taking her car and forcing her to withdraw money multiple times, ultimately stabbing and strangling her to death and dumping her body in Shady Book Reservation, reported the Boston Herald. The Herald also reported Alemany’s actions following the alleged murder, in which he appeared calm and hung out with friends. Lord’s car was found burned later.

Lord graduated from Bentley University in Waltham with a BA in marketing, quantitative perspectives, in 2011.
“She was an active member of our community – she was involved in the Bentley Service Learning Program, the Residence Hall Association, the International Buddy Network, and was a Study Abroad Peer Advisor,” said the Bentley announcement. “She studied Economics and Business while at Universidad de Navarra in 2009 and was active in intramural soccer. During her time at Bentley she also interned at MassMutual Life Insurance Company, NetCracker and Genuine Interactive.”

Lord, after graduation, worked as a digital media analyst with Genuine Interactive in Boston.
In addition to the charges associated with the murder of 24-year-old Lord, who lived in Wilbraham and attended the Waltham college, Alemany is also charged with attempted murder, armed assault with intent to murder, assault and battery, and aggravated assault and battery with a dangerous weapon for two additional attacks that occurred in South Boston before before and after Lord’s homicide, said the Suffolk District Attorney’s office.
Alemany reportedly tried to hang himself in jail over the weekend, but was in court uninjured, with his attorney Jeffrey Denner confirming the suicide attempt and also that he would use an insanity defense in the trial, reported Masslive.com.
