Waltham Among USA Today's 'Unsung Food Scenes' on the East Coast

Diners, delis, ethnic eateries, craft beer pubs and upscale dining. Waltham's got it all, landing it on this stacked list.

WALTHAM, MA – Waltham's got some good food...cue the collective "duh." But outside of the Watch City, they're starting to catch onto eastern Massachusetts' best-kept culinary secret. USA Today recently ranked Waltham among its five "Unsung Food Scenes" on the East Coast, a list that included such prominent cities as Providence and Baltimore.

So little Waltham (comparatively) is in good company. And the publication even makes note of how much the city manages to squeeze into an area of its size. Here's what USA Today had to say about Waltham's food scene:

"Waltham, Mass., a former factory city that’s now home to two universities, is a worthy culinary contender to neighboring Boston, just 12 miles east. While it’s chock full of old and new school diners and delis, it’s also home to upscale establishments, authentic ethnic eats, craft brew pubs, and even a sake factory, making the diversity of options very impressive for a city this size (just less than 14 square miles)."

USA Today highlighted Moody's Deli, Wilson's Diner, Red Bird, Dovetail Sake, Lizzy's Ice Cream and several other gems around Waltham. View the slideshow to see if your favorite spot was featured.
