Waltham FD Responding To 3-Alarm Fire

Waltham firefighters are responding to a 3-alarm fire at 19 Everett St.

While information is still sketchy, firefighters are still working to control the scene. It's not clear whether they have completely doused the fire. Crews, however, have broken many glass windows to ventialate the home, as well as cut holes in the exterior of the roof and left side of the home. There are no preliminary reports of injuries.

Several area residents told Waltham Patch the home's owner, Roni-Beth Shaprio, was not home at when flames broke out. She has been in Florida recently, according to the neighbors.

According to Patch Correspondent Stephen Walsh, the fire was reported around 7:21 p.m. as a working fire. Various Twitter reports said a third alarm was later struck.

Bruce, who lives next to the home but declined to give his last name, said he was at home when he walked outside and saw flames shooting from the second floor. Everett Street resident Sarah Kelley said she saw flames shooting from the basement as firefighters were responding to the scene.

Thomas Fotis, owner of Angelino's Cafe, said he did not see flames when he drove by the home on his way back to his shop, but quickly smelled them when he arrived at his shop.

The full extent of the damage is not yet known, but parts of exterior siding are damaged, as well as many of the house's windows.

Waltham Fire Chief Paul Ciccone is on the scene scene. In addition to Waltham firefighters, Watertown crews have responded to the scene.
