Waltham Firefighters Reunite Cat And Owner After 2-Alarm Fire
It was an intense fire that quickly spread, but, according to fire officials there was at least one happy tail.

WALTHAM, MA — Firefighters rescued a cat during Tuesday evening's 2-alarm fire on Dennison Street Tuesday evening. The cat was unharmed and its owner was happy to see it.
"That's a happy cat," said Lt. Scott Perry of the Waltham Fire Department. It's a bit of a silver lining for the house converted to a two unit condo. Although the cause and damages are still under investigation, photos show extensive damage to both the first and second floor of the building and at least one resident had lost everything, Patch reported yesterday.

Two firefighters reported heat-related injuries and were evaluated on the scene. Another firefighter was also hospitalized for medical evaluation and later released, Perry said.
The other good news? In the densely packed neighborhood it would have been easy for the fire to spread to another building, but firefighters didn't let that happen.

"They did a fantastic job trying to knock that down as fast as possible. Those lots are tight. It's tricky. Deputy Rollins was the deputy in command of that fire. He and the rest of the guys did a fantastic job in that tightly packed area," said Perry.
Someone called in a report of smoke near 25 Dennison Street around 4:30 p.m. and when firefighters showed up they saw heavy smoke and then flames on the outside of the house around back and then extending into the eaves, Perry told Patch.
Firefighters searched the home didn't find anyone there on the first time around. On the second time around firefighters found a cat and helped reunite it with its owner.
Some eight Waltham fire engines and ladder trucks were called to help fight the blaze, along with two rescue units, two command vehicles and a medic unit, Perry said. Firefighters from neighboring communities, including Watertown, and Newton, Belmont, Weston, Lexington all came to help cover during the fire.
