Waltham Garden Club Celebrates Diamond 75th Anniversary
The officers of the Waltham Garden Club have planned a special year of meetings and events to commemorate the organization’s Diamond 75th Anniversary.
The year launches on the evening of Tuesday, September 20, 2016, with a Dedication Ceremony of the Bright School Gardens designed and planted by members Noreen Cooke and Cathy Gallagher. There will be an opportunity to tour the headquarters of the Waltham Historical Society as well as hear from its Co-Presidents Wayne McCarthy and Sheila Fitzpatrick. President Jane Gibbons will give an overview of the year ahead, and there will be a slide presentation of the club’s summer events. In a departure from its usual time, this program will begin at 6:15 PM.

On Sunday, December 4, 2016, the traditional Holiday program will take place at the Paine Estate. Noted Floral Designer Bill Graham will return to demonstrate how to bling our flowers and plants for the holidays.

In April there will be a tea at the Gore Carriage House in honor of the many memorable Waltham Garden Club teas held at this site. In addition to speakers, guests will be challenged by a “Guess Who Is Coming to Dinner?” display with place settings and centerpieces representing famous individuals or characters. The members will also unveil their landscape design plan for Tavern Square.
Some of the other meetings will feature an herbalist, a “birdscaper”, and an expert gardener.
