Waltham Gets $500K Grant For Linden Street Bridge Restoration

The MassTrails grant is intended to fund the full restoration of the bridge, city officials said this week.

WALTHAM, MA — Restoration of the Linden Street Bridge just got a major boost from state officials.

On Monday, the Waltham City Council accepted a MassTrails Grant in the amount of $500,000 for the full restoration of the bridge, officials said.

The project was one of 68 chosen from 98 total proposals submitted to the Massachusetts Department of Conservation and Recreation.

With this grant, the Mass Central Rail Trail project can continue forward to allow full restoration of the Linden Street Bridge, therefore providing a continuous connection of the corridor over Linden Street, officials said.

The bridge is an important section of the total trail, connecting the two sections of the Waltham Wayside Trail.
