Waltham Hockey Honors Falmouth Athletes Killed in Crash
In its game against Cambridge Rindge and Latin Wednesday, both sides hung the numbers 10 and 19 for James Lavin and Owen Higgins.
WALTHAM, MA – Waltham High hockey honored James Lavin and Owen Higgins, two Falmouth athletes killed in a car crash last week, at its game against Cambridge Rindge and Latin Wednesday.
Both sides hung jerseys with the numbers 10 and 19 on their respective sides for Lavin and Higgins, and they were not worn during the game.

Lavin and Higgins were killed Thursday night when their car veered off the side of the road in Falmouth and slammed into a row of trees. Lavin was pronounced dead at the scene, and Higgins succumbed to his injuries the following day. They were both 17 years old.

In the wake of the tragedy, dozens of high schools from Cape Cod and beyond offered condolences and fundraisers were established to help pay for funeral expenses, with leftover funds going toward scholarships.
