What's The Waltham Land Trust? Learn More At Its 18th Birthday Oct. 24
Come hear what Waltham's primary environmental non-profit is up to and mingle with other open space supporters.

On Tuesday, October 24, the Waltham Land Trust (WLT) will celebrate 18 years of incorporation at its Annual Meeting between 7-9 pm at the First Parish in Waltham. This is the best opportunity to learn more about the activities of the Land Trust, meet its board of directors, and share ideas for helping to create a legacy of land conservation in Waltham. Current members of the WLT, those who pay dues annually to the organization, will vote to re-elect four active Board Directors and help the land conservation group prioritize its activities for next year.
The evening begins with celebrating the Land Trust’s Inge Uhlir Environmentalist of the Year. Inge Uhlir is a founding Director of the WLT; when she retired from the Board in 2011, the group re-named its most prestigious volunteer award in her honor.
The group then welcomes nationally recognized rail trail advocate Craig Della Penna to the stage for a visual presentation of rail trails in Southern New England where land trusts are wholly supporting these linear pathways that connect communities, followed by a brief update on Waltham’s progress on its part of the soon-to-be Mass Central Rail Trail. We’ll then have a quick tour of the new Waltham Land Trust website and hear a brief report on the WLT’s financials.

The Land Trust’s accomplishments in saving land and building trails will be covered next, followed by the business part of the meeting where up-to-date, dues-paying members will vote to re-elect returning Directors Diana Young (for her sixth three-year term) and Martha Creedon, Natalie Berland Hayes, and Brian McCormick (who each have served one three-year term). Finally, delicious food and the chance to chat with other open space supporters will wrap up WLT’s 18th Annual Meeting.
