Waltham Officials to Meet With Parents Over Immigration Concerns

The president's recent executive order has resulted in backlash among some residents and advocacy groups.

WALTHAM, MA – President Trump's immigration executive orders have had far reaching consequences just a week after he signed them, prompting concern and backlash in Waltham.

City officials will meet with parents Saturday to address concerns over immigration policy, according to the Waltham Channel. The meeting is part of Community Engagement Specialist Mary Jo Rendón's monthly workshops for Latino parents, but this one is expected to draw a larger crowd.

Superintendent Drew Echelson will speak and the Waltham Police Department, immigration attorney Victor Maldonado and city counselors are expected to attend as well, according to the Waltham Channel.

The workshop will be held this Saturday, Feb. 4 from 9-11 a.m. in the Waltham High School library, 617 Lexington St. For information, contact Mary Jo Rendón at (781) 314-5539.

Meanwhile local advocacy group Waltham Concerned Citizens has a vigil planned Saturday at the Waltham Common at 11 a.m.
