Guigno said it does not appear anybody was in the car they targeted and are not sure whether the men were shooting at a specific person. Police do not have a motive for the shooting and nobody was injured, Guigno said.
The incident began at around 12:47 a.m. when police, who were in the area on an unrelated matter, responded to the scene for a report of gunfire, according to Guigno. Officers witnessed the suspect’s vehicle flee the scene and gave chase.
“After a short pursuit, the suspect vehicle was stopped at the Waltham/Newton line,” Guigno said.
Officers later found the window of another vehicle shot out and wadding from a shotgun at the scene, Guigno. A search of the area turned up a loaded 16-gauge shotgun, Guigno said.
Waltham and State Police are investigating the incident.
