Waltham Public Library Offers Resources to Teens After Week's Tragedies

The library urged those who wish to discuss the violence to stop by its Teen Room in the coming weeks.

Waltham, MA – The Waltham Public Library extended a helping hand to the city's teenagers Friday, offering its Teen Room as a resource for those impacted by the week's violence to come and discuss.

"As a public library, we are committed to improving social equity in our community and oppose violence as a surrogate for public discourse and assembly," the library wrote in an Instagram post on Friday.

The post also expressed pride for Waltham's supportive black community and gratitude for the work of the Waltham Police Department.

The library has several reading and group discussion sessions planned in the coming weeks as middle and high school students encounter issues of equality and social justice through their One School One Story readings.

But the Teen Room is also open as a forum for conversation and debate, the post stated.
