WALTHAM, MA — The Fernald School property has long been a discussion in Waltham, mainly centered around just what to do with it.

Now, city officials have proposed a project that would add a memorial, chipping range and disc golf area at the Trapelo Road property, and public input is requested.

Waltham's Conservation Commission will host a public meeting at 7 p.m. on Jan. 19. Officials will discuss the three pieces mentioned above, but noted that the project would also include improvements to an access road, parking, retaining wall and drainage.

The project would be completed on the 190 and 282 Trapelo Rd. parcels.

Waltham bought the property in 2014 for $3.7 million. Since, there have been many discussions about what to use the property for, including, at one point, turning it into veteran housing.
