On August 18, 2014, Tullus did not return home after work and two days later, Waltham Police found the body of Tullus in his car on Overland Road in Waltham. He had been beaten and robbed.

The teens were convicted of beating the Haitian immigrant, a home health aid worker, leaving him for dead, and taking his credit cards and shoes.

On June 30, Greaves pleaded guilty to charges at a hearing in Cambridge Juvenile Court. On the manslaughter charge, Greaves was committed to the custody of the Department of Youth Services until age 21, on the armed robbery charge Greaves was given a 2-3 year state prison sentence suspended during a probationary period of ten years which will commence on his 21st birthday, concurrent with a sentence of ten years probation on the charge of assault and battery with a dangerous weapon causing serious bodily injury, said the Middlesex DA’s office.

According to WHDH-TV, the wooded area off Overland Road was underground construction. While the beating happened there, the victim got back to his car afterward and drove it a short distance before stopping.

Greaves was described by prosecutors as the ringleader in the beating death, and had a relationship with Tullus’s younger sister. Another teenager involved in the attack, Villanueva-Iglesias was said to have punched Tullus before Greaves hit him in the head with a rock. Lowe reportedly took photos of Tullus when he was on the ground bleeding. The teens took Tullus’s phone and shoes, leaving him in the woods, the Globe reported.
