Waltham's Magician On America's Got Talent Heads To Finals

WALTHAM, MA — The magician who grew up in Massachusetts made it through the semifinals and is one of the few to go on to the last of the America's Got Talent shows. AGT has 10 performances slated for Tuesday, Sept. 18 at 8 p.m. EST. with the results slated to be aired Sept. 19.

The Waltham magician Shin Lim last performed in early September on America's Got Talent to the repeated outbursts of "What!?" "How?!" and "Wait" of host Tyra Banks who was seated next to him, along with judge Hedi Klum.

When he was done, Banks repeated "What the heck?"

Notoriously difficult to please Judge Simon Cowell expressed his approval.

"Look for anyone who says they don't believe in magic... hellooo," he said, adding that he thought the magician had stepped up his game this time around. "What you do itself is sensational."

Judge Howie Mandel appeared convinced, too.

"You need to be in the finals, the whole time it's like how does he do that?"

Lim grew up in Action but now lives in Waltham, which is closer to the airport. And yes, he's frequently ordering takeout from his Moody Street food options, according to his mom.

The 26-year-old magician will take the stage live Tuesday, Sept. 18, on the final live show will take place Sept. 18 with the winner announced the next night. According to bloggers, Lim is a strong favorite to win.

Lim is up against acts like singer and dad Michael Ketterer, acrobatic group Zurcaroh, acrobatic group Duo Transcend and comedian Samuel J. Comroe.
