Weymouth Club Player on WTA Pro Tour
Over the years, the Weymouth Club's Tournament Training Academy/High Performance Tennis coaching team has proudly worked with a number of players who have risen to the top of their game to play professional tennis, including 18-year-old Maria Mateas, a resident of Braintree, MA.

Mateas, who is now ranked 420 in the world on the WTA Pro Tour, is working hard to reach her goals, which include ranking in the Top 200 by the end of 2018, winning Grand Slams, and becoming Number 1 in the world.

Mateas began playing tennis at age eight and went through all the stages, from USTA New England tournaments, to National tournaments, to ITF Juniors, and now plays professionally. She played all of the Junior Grand Slams and reached a ranking as high as 26 in the world in Juniors. Currently, she has committed to play at Duke University for 2018, but depending on how well she continues to do, she will decide whether school or a pro career is the best option for her. Mateas is the daughter of the Weymouth Club's PTR Professional and USTA High Performance coach, Calin Mateas.
