Yoga Outside on Summer Solstice at Sunset

Enjoy the lasting sun while breathing deeply and holding yoga poses outdoors in a fabulous location.

Celebrate the Summer Solstice on June 21 by performing yoga outside at sunset in a former rose garden at 240 Beaver Street, the UMASS Field Station. During this fundraiser for the Waltham Land Trust, our community’s primary environmental non-profit creating a legacy of land conservation, participants will learn about the amazing property at 240 Beaver Street that has had an agricultural and educational focus for centuries. It is also the proposed site of UMASS’s future Center for Urban Sustainability, which was slated for $20 million in the Massachusetts 2014 Environmental Bond.

Before starting their easy yoga poses and breathing exercises, event attendees will also hear briefly about some of the Field Station’s tenants, which include the Waltham Land Trust, Waltham Fields Community Farm (themselves having an ice cream social at the same location at 6 p.m.), Green Rows of Walthamcommunity gardens, Boston Area Gleaners, and Grow Native Massachusetts.

The fee for yoga is only $10 for Waltham Land Trust dues-paying members, $15 for non-members. Register online at walthamlandtrust.org or bring cash/check made out the Waltham Land Trust. All participants should bring a mat or towel to lie on since the plush grass might be dry and/or recently mowed.
