$11,000 in Lottery Money Stolen from Galen Street Convenience Store
Clerk told police he was the victim of a scam involving three people.

A clerk at Bus Stop Variety on Galen Street believes he was the victim of a scam in which three people teamed up to steal a deposit bag filled with $11,000 in lottery money, said Watertown Police Sgt. Thomas Grady.
The man told police that a man came into the store on May 5 at 10 a.m. and bought trash bags and some lottery tickets, paying for the items with a $100 bill. The clerk made change by going into the deposit bag with cash from lottery sales.
A short time later, a woman comes in and then a second man. The second man came up and wanted to buy five phone cards, Grady said.

The clerk became suspicious when the man left quickly, and noticed he had not given enough money for the phone cards, so he ran after the man, Grady said.
“No body was left in the store except the female,” Grady said. “When he came back, the female was gone, and the bag with $11,000 of lottery money was missing.”
