Belmont Man Arrested After Spree of Break-ins in Watertown
Police arrested the man after he tried to break into a home on Downey Street.

Watertown Police arrested a 26-year old Belmont man after he tried to push in a door of a home on Downey Street in the early hours of Oct. 9.
Michael James Boutin of 43 Burnham St., Apt. C2 in Belmont, faces a slew of charges after a night of allegedly breaking into cars and a house, said Watertown Police Lt. Michael Lawn.
Police receive a call from a Forest Street resident at 12:40 a.m. on Oct. 9 who said an intoxicated man was in his front yard. He was described as a heavyset white male, wearing a dark hoody sweatshirt and light pants, Lawn said.

"The man had fallen in the yard, and where he fell they found a GPS unit, a cell phone and other items," Lawn said. "They discovered the items were taken from motor vehicles in the area."
A while later, at 2:37 a.m., police received a call from residents of Downey Street who said someone had tried to break into their home.

"The residents were startled by their front door being pushed open," Lawn said. "They pushed the man out the the door and the suspect fell down outside."
Police arrived and found a man on the porch of the house wearing light pants and a dark hoody, Lawn said.
Boutin was arrested on charges of felony nighttime breaking and entering, two counts of felony nighttime breaking and entering of vehicles, receiving stolen property worth more than $250, larceny of drugs and malicious destruction of property worth less than $250, Lawn said.
