Bites Nearby: Deluxe Town Diner

This popular Watertown diner draws a crowd on weekends.

This diner won a Best of Boston award in 2010 for its eclectic, yet classic menu and good service. It's busy on weekends, so you sometimes wait in front for a booth or table. Breakfast is served all day.

What to eat: Both the breakfast and lunch menus are worth a try. For breakfast, there are pancakes, French toast (with a half-dozen kinds of bread), eggs and home fries, and selections of gourmet teas or cafe latte. Lunch can be soup, sandwiches, blue plates like the roast turkey dinner, salads, and a selection of homemade pies.

The Vibe: Busy, lively, and friendly, in the heart of Coolidge Square on Mt. Auburn Street.
