Bites Nearby: Super Fusion Cuisine 2
A small Japanese restaurant with lots of kinds of sushi, nigiri, and maki, as well as soups, appetizers, tempura, and salads.
One of three sister restaurants in the Boston area (the others are in Brookline and Cambridge), , two blocks from Watertown Square, has many creative dishes for lovers of seafood, from basics, like spicy tuna maki ($7), to "fusions," such as a salad made with lobster meat, mango, tomatoes and mixed greens ($9).
Good bets: This is a place to try something different: instead of miso soup ($2), you might splurge on the hot and sour lemon grass lobster soup ($8). Or pass up the shrimp tempura for the soft-shell crab tempura with cucumber and avocado ($7). For vegetarians, there's elemental edamame (boiled soy beans) ($4.50) or Queen Maki: asparagus, mango, cucumber, avocado, and tempura crumb ($9).
Vibe: The atmosphere is one of quiet workmanship and an appreciation of the artistic results. Then again, have you ever seen a sushi chef who wasn't focused?
