Boston Police Rule Death of Watertown's First Black Police Officer was a Homicide

The autopsy of Gail Miles, 60, who was found dead in her Roxbury apartment on Dec. 3, determined that she was murdered.

The autopsy of the death of Gail Miles, , determined that her death was a homicide, Boston Police announced Tuesday.

Boston Police responded to a call to 8 Wardman Road in Roxbury and found an unresponsive 60-year-old woman at 10:08 a.m. on Saturday. EMS personnel pronounced her dead on the scene. She was later identified as Miles.

"An autopsy has determined the manner of death to be homicide. Detectives are not disclosing the cause of death at this time," Boston Police announced in a statement Tuesday. "The Boston Police Homicide Unit is actively investigating the facts and circumstances surrounding Ms. Miles’ death."
