MA US Senate Race: Scott Brown Distracter And Enabler!

A frank analysis of the US Senate race - right here in Massachusetts.

Congratulations to Ms. Elizabeth Warren on her “clearing of the field” at the Massachusetts Democratic Party Convention. Eliminating opposition is always a good thing in campaigns, one would opine. The best opposition is no opposition. Believe me on that one!

Sen. Scott Brown’s relentless goal is obvious: to distract attention from serious issues facing our nation, by way of questioning Ms. Warren’s heritage.

I choose to believe her. If a beloved family member told me that I was of a certain ancestry – I would proudly embrace it and revel in the history.

Specifically our Junior Senator does NOT want you or the media to think about two recent votes:

Vote in favor of Blunt amendment: Sen. Brown voted to interfere with individual access to reproductive science. Was this vote both a war on gender and a war on science? I am a libertarian in this sense – Keep the government away from decisions made by my fellow Americans. Maybe it is actually a war on the new health care law. Except of course when your under 26 offspring is looking for coverage – such has Sen. Brown has done with his daughter.

Vote against the Buffet rule: Sen. Brown voted against this deficit reduction policy.  We know what works; certainly when President Clinton succeeded in similar fiscal stewardship in the early 1990’s. But the senator is once again, standing with the 1 percent and against the rest of us, the GOP has a fiscal obligation to pay for idiotic war spending, a culture of corruption, and other misdeeds conducted by the previous administration. Where are those weapons of mass destruction anyway? eBay?

What is Scott Brown really? I say he is an enabler, and certainly not a bipartisan force.  He caucuses and votes with a variety extreme non-secular folks looking to infringe upon our collective rights as Americans. He makes procedural votes in support of Mitch McConnell, Roy Blunt, and Jon Kyl, and their agenda to tax the middle class into the Stone Age. They want to undermine this President, and protect their special interest cronies through tax breaks and inside deals. Who enables that type of leadership? Back benching self-labeled moderates like Scott Brown.

Who is Elizabeth Warren? It says here that she is a somewhat clumsy academic who really should have led the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau. Her economic policy agenda is as substantive and progressive as any candidate I have ever seen. Ms. Warren is, however, probably more suited to a non-elected leadership position –frankly, she is someone of more substance than anyone I can truly name here.

Sometimes, one has to be judged in part by who your enemies are, and who is blocking you. The Mitch McConnell led GOP blocked Ms. Warren from the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau  because of who she is, who she will try and hold accountable in the financial sector,  and mostly - who she will fight for: a vast majority of the American People. She believes, as most Democrats do that a rising tide lifts all boats. It works a lot better than trickle down.

Count me with Ms. Warren. Massachusetts needs substance, not just another enabler protecting special interests.
