Carinhoso: An Evening of Jazz and Brazilian Music

50 years ago, bossa nova took the US by storm! The Arsenal Center  pays tribute with an exciting concert of jazz and Brazilian music, led by saxophonist Larry Monroe, vocalist Donna McElroy – Berklee faculty from the center’s American Songbook series - and a thirty-piece orchestra of Boston's finest musicians. Co-producers and music directors Matthew Nicholl and Michael Farquharson lead the orchestra through the great Brazilian songbook, with music both sensual and poignant, from past to present.  Carinhoso will feature the songs of Antonio Carlos Jobim, Luis Bonfa, Pixinguinha, Ary Barroso, Ivan Lins, Djavan, Rosa Passos and others inDesafinado, Corcovado (Quiet Nights of Quiet Stars), Samba of Orpheus (from the movie Black Orpheus) and many more.  Call the box office at 617-923-8487 or purchase online at: www.arsenalarts.org
