Charles River Greenway Clean Up Help!

Volunteer a couple hours Saturday morning to help clean up the Charles River Greenway loop. Let's improve this great trail together!

Hello new neighbors! I just moved to the area from North Carolina and have really enjoyed walking my dog around the Charles River Greenway loop in Watertown, but each time have found there to be so much litter in the woods along the trail and by the river. It makes me sad how many people are just tossing their garbage along this beautiful trail (Image is of the trash I picked up one morning not even a mile into the trail). I have started taking bags with me on each walk and picking up as much as I can, but would love to rally together a group of locals who also love this trail to put in more solid effort to clean it up. I am going to be at the Newton entrance to the loop on California Street (near where California St. and Bridge St. intersect) on Saturday morning at 8 am. I plan to walk the full trail with trash bags to clean up as much as possible and would love to get help from other locals who love this trail and are tired of seeing so much garbage along the way.

Bring friends and family! There is a dumpster midway through the trail (on the Watertown side) so if we get enough people we can start at the same point, go opposite directions and meet in the middle by the dumpsters.

Anyone willing to volunteer just an hour or two this coming Saturday September 19th starting at 8 am please let me know through email AnnaReevesJohnson@gmail.com or just show up! The more the merrier! I will provide bags for everyone, but suggest wearing pants, closed toed shoes, and gloves since a lot of the trash requires some off trail hiking. I am happy to provide gloves as well!
