Clerk's Office Certifies 17 Candidates for Town Council Election
The candidates will face off in a preliminary election Sept. 15.

The field for next month’s preliminary election for the nine Watertown Town Council seats is set, and it’s 17 candidates deep, according to a Watertown News report.
Those candidates—along with the five candidates running for the three Watertown School Committee seats—were officially certified by the Town Clerk’s office recently, the report stated. The 17 council candidates will face off in a Sept. 15 preliminary election, which will whittle down the ballot, the report added.

Initially, there were 19 candidates who showed interest in running in the council race, but two of them—Mark L. Pettiglio and at-large incumbent Stephen Corbett—dropped out, the report stated.
