PETA Offers $5,000 Reward for Capture of Dog Abuser

The animal advocacy organization is joining the effort to identify the owners of a severely emaciated dog found at Home Depot on Saturday.

WATERTOWN, MA - PETA announced Wednesday they are offering up to $5,000 to anyone who can help bring those involved in the abuse of a pit bull to justice.

The dog was found wandering into the Home Depot on Arsenal Street around 6 a.m. Saturday morning.

According to police, he weighs 26 pounds, which is less than half of the healthy weight for his breed.

He was also found to have numerous lesions - possibly cigarette burns - and a small notch has been cut into each of his ears.

"This sweet dog was apparently deliberately burned, over and over, as he wasted away from starvation," PETA Vice President Colleen O'Brien said in a press release. "PETA is urging anyone with information about this case to come forward immediately so that this dog's abuser can be held accountable and stopped from hurting anyone else."

Anyone who recognizes Sully or has information about the owners' identities is urged to contact Watertown Animal Control Officer Karen O’Reilly at 617-972-6446.
