Mount Auburn Cemetery, the nation's oldest garden cemetery and the model for our modern day parks system. The cemetery is a final resting place for many famous and important historical figures, including Charles Bulfinch, Mary Baker Eddy, Isabella Stewart Gardner, Oliver Wendell Holmes, Winslow Homer and Henry Wadsworth Longfellow, to name a few.
Although, not all of Mount Auburn's "notables" are residents. Every year over 200,000 people come to the Cemetery, a valued destiantion for mourners, travelers, and visitors. Included among them through the years have been King Edward VII of England, Ralph Waldo Emerson, Emily Dickinson, John Wilkes Booth, Herman Melville, Sir Arthur Conan Doyle, John Denver, and those of you who be on tour with us today!
