Join United Planet and Belmont World Film for “Once in Afghanistan” at the Belmont Studio Cinema. This extraordinary 70 minute film tells the story of one Peace Corps group's experience traveling village-to-village vaccinating against smallpox in Afghanistan prior to the Soviet occupation. The evening features a question and answer session with filmmaker Jill Vickers, who was one of the Peace Corps vaccinators, as well as Training Director Kristina Engstrom and another vaccinator, Deezie Flower, both featured in the film. This is a remarkable opportunity to hear the message of hope about a time in Afghanistan before the decades of violence began.
