Fallen Watertown Firefighter To Get Memorial
A memorial will be dedicated to Joseph Toscano on the anniversary of his death.

WATERTOWN, MA – Watertown will honor fallen firefighter Joseph Toscano with a memorial dedicated to him on the anniversary of his death. The town will hold a ceremony at the corner of Merrifield Avenue and Bigelow Avenue on Saturday, March 17, at 10 a.m. A reception will follow at the Taxiarchae Greek Orthodox Church, 25 Bigelow Ave.
Toscano, a married father of five, died March 17, 2017 after collapsing at the scene of a two-alarm fire on Merrifield Avenue. Hundreds of mourners from Massachusetts and beyond gathered to remember the 54-year-old as a "man of great integrity and honor" with a "heart of gold."
The tragedy was the first firefighter death in Watertown since the 1950s.
