High School Photographers Sought for Contest

Watertown Savings Bank is sponsoring a photo contest for students from Watertown and other area communities.

is seeking submissions for their 10th Annual High School Photography contest. If you are a high school student who lives or attends school in Arlington, Belmont, Lexington, Newton, Waltham, and Watertown you are eligible to participate. The twelve winning photographs will be published in the bank’s 2012 calendar, which is distributed free to nearly 7,500 customers.

Students may submit up to three photographs, black & white or color, which capture scenes from their community, the theme of the calendar. All submitted photographs become property of the bank. In addition to appearing in the 2012 calendar, all winning photographs will also be exhibited at the bank. The bank holds an award ceremony in June to recognize the winners and distribute the awards.

All winners will receive gift certificates to a local photography shop. First place winner receives $500; second place $300; third place $200; and the nine honorable mentions each receive a $100 gift certificate. The deadline for entries in this year’s contest is April 30, 2011. Only photographs taken within the past twelve months are eligible. On the back of each submitted photograph, the student should include: name, address, telephone number, e-mail address, school, grade, description of photograph, and teacher’s name.
