In our FREE German 1 course our young traveler learns that Mark Twain stayed in Heidelberg for three months in 1878. Although Twain had a love/hate relationship with the German language (see also our blog: Lessons from Mark Twain's:"The Awful German Language") he liked living there with his family. In an earlier Heidelberg & Mark Twain we had speculated that he liked the name, as Heidelberg is short for "Heidelbeerenberg" or "Huckleberry mountain". (In German you have a similar distinction between a "Heidelbeere" and a "Blaubeere" as between a huckleberry and a blueberry)
