Watertown students learned about crime fighting from their hometown experts.

A group of 9- to 11-year olds got an inside look at how the Watertown Police do their job Wednesday. They were campers in the Middlesex Sheriff's Office Youth Public Safety Academy.

The students spend the week learning about police, fire, emergency medical services (EMS) and other public safety jobs at the camp at the Middlesex Sheriff's Office Training Academy in Billerica. Wednesday, however, they visited their hometown police and fire departments.

At the Police Station, they got a behind the scenes tour of the station, learned how to use the radar to gague a car's speed and simulated catching a criminal in a foot chase.
