Local Business Report: Local Banks Collecting for Soldiers, Donate to Watertown Family Network
Watertown Savings is hosting drop off boxes for Operation American Soldier and Rockland Trust donated to a local non-profit at a recent open house.

The following information was provided by the Watertwon Savings Bank and Rockland Trust:
Throughout the month of July, Watertown Savings Bank (WSB) will collect items for Operation American Soldier (OAS).
“Let no one walk away from mail call empty handed.” That is the goal of OAS. OAS founders and local realtors John and Wendy Rocca, along with hundreds of OAS volunteers, have gathered, prepared, and shipped care packages to men and women serving in the Armed Forces for 10 years.

More than 4,000 service men and women have received care boxes from OAS.
All three of the Rocca’s children have served in the military.
“I thought it might be timely to do a collection around the Independence Day holiday,” Wendy said. “We go through so much stock every time we pack; it’s hard to keep up.”

Examples of items that are much needed by the soldiers: Peanut butter, jelly, (plastic containers), nonperishable snack foods, disposable razors, socks, lip balm, toiletries (small sizes, plastic containers), and AA batteries.
Each of WSB’s nine locations will be accepting items for OAS, throughout the month of July.

Rockland Trust Gives to Watertown Family Network
Rockland Trust President and CEO Chris Oddleifson and new Watertown Branch Manager Ed Sugrue presented Arlene Smith of the Watertown Family Network a check for $2,500 at a recent open house (See photo above).
The Watertown Family Network is a nonprofit organization committed to providing age-appropriate furnishings, toys, books and equipment to young families in the local community. The organization offers programs to all parents and caregivers, and works to educate them on childcare while developing supportive friendships among Watertown’s youngest residents.
