Man Crashes into Utility Pole on Church Street, Car Spun 50 Feet Down the Road

The driver was conscious when he was taken to hospital. People in the area lost power when the utility pole snapped.

A single car accident at about 4:30 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 23 sent the driver to hospital after he drove his late-model Ford into a utilty pole, snapping it off at the base.

It took Watertown Fire crews nearly 20 minutes to remove the driver, who was conscious, and place him in the ambulance.

During the accident, at the corner of Church and Marshall streets, the car spun nearly 50 feet down the road before coming to a rest at Marion Road.

People at the scene reported hearing a loud bang and then many lost their lights. Watertown Police arrived and quickly closed Church Street.
