Man Smashes Window at 7-Eleven and Disappears in Watertown Square
The man got angry because the store would not sell him cigarettes.

A man smashed a window at the 7-Eleven in Watertown Square before running into Watertown Square.
The dispute started when the suspect tried to buy cigarettes at the store on Mt. Auburn Street, said Watertown Police Sgt. Thomas Grady.
"He was unsatisfied that the sales clerk would not sell him cigarettes," Grady said. "The man leaves the store and throws something at the window."

The cost of replacing the 6-foot-by-10-foot window is $700, Grady said.
"The person fled on foot toward Watertown Square with a witness pursuing," Grady said. "The witness lost him near the Charles River Path."

Police are examing store security video to try to identify the person who broke the window, Grady said.
